Celebrating its 22nd year in 2016, Basic Banking for Massachusetts was launched in 1994 to expand access to bank products and services and to encourage those with limited incomes to establish banking relationships. Basic Banking for Massachusetts has been cited as a national model of cooperation between community and financial leaders. During 2015, 102 banks and credit unions participated in the Basic Banking for Massachusetts program.

MCBC announces the release of Changing Patterns XXII: Mortgage Lending to Traditionally Underserved Borrowers & Neighborhoods in Boston, Greater Boston and Massachusetts, 2014. This is the twenty-second in the annual series of Changing Patterns reports prepared for the Massachusetts Community & Banking Council (MCBC). The report presents information on home-purchase mortgage lending in the city of Boston, in Greater Boston, in Massachusetts, in Boston neighborhoods, and in thirty-six large cities. The report was prepared for MCBC by Jim Campen, professor emeritus of economics at UMass Boston.
